Etude was founded in the fall of 2004 to fulfill the need for an independent winter guard in the Rock Hill/Charlotte area. Etude's first show was entitled "Here Comes the Flood," and the guard finished the 2005 Winter Guard season as CWEA's Independent A Class Champions and was also a Semi-Finalist at the WGI World Championships. Etude's 2006 show, "Yesterday" took the guard to new heights. The members of Etude finished their second season as WGI Independent A Class World Champions, becoming only the second Independent Guard from South Carolina to do so. The following year, Etude competed in WGI's Open Class for the first time with their show "Kaleidoscope." The guard capped off a successful season by making Open Class finals, finishing 12th at WGI World Championships. In 2008, Etude finished 15th at World Championships with their production "Dark Road." With their production "Ransom Note" in 2009, the Guard was named the 2009 CWEA Independent Open Class Champions. The guard is now in their 7th season, and is competing, once again, in the WGI/CWEA Independent Open Class. |
